Delegates develop the examination technique that converts P3O knowledge into certification success.
Day 2 covers P3O governance and organisational structures in depth, examining how governance is integrated across portfolio, programme, and project levels, and what the practical differences are between centralised, hub-and-spoke, and hybrid P3O model types. Delegates develop the governance design knowledge to evaluate which model is most appropriate for specific organisational contexts and to understand the roles, responsibilities, and control mechanisms that each model requires to function effectively
Day 4 covers the key functions and services that Portfolio, Programme, and Project Offices provide, examining what services each office type delivers, how decision-support tools are applied across governance levels, and what software and technology solutions are available to support P3O management. Delegates develop the functional knowledge to evaluate what a well-designed P3O should deliver — and to identify where existing office structures are providing insufficient value or operating beyond their appropriate scope.
P3O tailoring is addressed within Day 3 as a core implementation discipline, examining why P3O cannot be applied identically across all organisations and how the framework is customised to reflect specific organisational size, maturity, culture, and governance requirements. The P3O Practitioner examination specifically tests tailoring capability and this course develops the principled tailoring judgement that distinguishes candidates who understand the P3O framework deeply from those who can only describe it in standard terms.
