Highly Disruptive COVID-19

COVID-19 outbreak has caused immense social and economic disruption throughout the world. Everything has changed overnight, and daily life seem to be never the same anymore.

Innovative Leadership Needed to Manage Crisis

Governments, financial institutions and every other essential industries and service suddenly have to explore innovative solutions and keen collaboration in order to ensure business survival, adapting to the leap of change, and at the same time remain emphatic to the humanitarian cries with strategic social responsibility packages.

Among the sectors which were quick to response to the impact of COVID-19 were financial institutions across the board simply because they have wealth of resources and effective models of data analysis, working closely with government agencies to formulate policy and strategy to mitigate risk and negative impacts of the Convid-19. With effective data analysis, openness to new ideas, and decisiveness corporations would likely to navigate through this global crisis successfully.

Decisive Measures Needed for Critical Moments

Across the globe, either complete lockdown or partial movement restriction orders were implemented aimed at minimising the further spread of the virus via close contacts. Some sections minimized face to face interaction operations to reduce the risk of infection. Work-from-home (WFH) framework was established, remote-working tools were set up to facilitate collaboration. 

Salute to the Frontline Workers

However, there are certain public service employees which by their profession are not allowed to shelter in place at home; they stand in constant risk of contacting the coronavirus. A number of healthcare professionals and law enforcement agencies have passed on while in duty due to COVID-19, we salute them for their courage, contribution and sacrifices.

Post COVID-19 World  

It is uncertain how long the negative impact of COVID-19 on the social-economic disruption would remain. At the time of this writing, the COVID-19 infection appears to have yet reached its peak globally. Some nations are still trying to manage frantically to contain the spread and various fears. How many people would be able to remain resilience during this pandemic? How many people would emerge emotionally unscathed? How many would resort to creativity and innovation to face the new norm when the waves of COVID-19 finally settled?  

The Need for A Post COVID-19 Strategic Team

While managing the current negative impacts of COVID-19, organisations must begin to form a response-management team composing executive-level, and cross-functional teams, to formulate recovery plans in a post-Covid-19 world. Such teams ideally, would include leaders who are resilient, creative, innovation, optimistic, solution focus, emotionally intelligence, analytical, and inspiring… helping everyone in the organisation to successfully adapt to the new normal.
