Safety Measures and Hazard Control

Safety Measures and Hazard Control

The course Safety Measures and Hazard Control identifies and analyses a number of core issues that are fundamental in Safety. Amongst these are the Principles of Control and Prevention.

No one set of ideas or actions can keep the workforce safe. The control of hazards requires a variety of measures including Technical, Procedural and Behavioural; all have to be in place.

Engineering measures are collective and protect all the workers and therefore may be considered the first step in protection. These are applied directly to the hazard itself in order to minimise and or remove the possibility of person contact with the hazard.

Procedural measures are the different procedures developed by the organization from Approved Codes of Practice and / or from special or unique hazards that may be present within the organisation. These would include such items as Permits to Work, Emergency Plans and Incident Investigation procedures and recommendations.

Behavioural measures relate to how the person acts in relation to the hazard. This will require the person not only to be aware of the hazards but also to have the understanding of the consequences to both himself and others around him. What is wanted is the educated and knowledgeable worker who is trained and will act correctly at all times.

Safety is a core issue in any business unit. This AZTECH course will help all participants to develop new insights and further motivation to have safety as not only a value but a tool to increase profits for the organization having in mind the vision of no failures and zero incidents.
